That being said I think the VIX is still stretched a bit too much below its 10 day moving average

Why would this be relevant? The VIX is a "fear factor" index based on buying of puts and calls, without any underlying intrinsic value. Because of this, why should it be expected that the trendlines and moving averages will mean anything in regards to the VIX?

RtS, Well I really have to respect your opinion. You sure had this past downturn, starting in early July, really "nailed". I didn't listen very well and I bought in too early and now I am paying the price.

Having said that, I think you have to be careful when every entity, brokerages and analysts are so negative. They are always fighting the last war. When they say business is so bad today, they have a tendency to not look out very far into the future.

I have been listening to the "guests" on the financial shows and they are not universally negative. Some go so far as to say there is "no chance" of a double dip recession. If they are right, the economy should continue its upward course, albeit probably at a slower pace than we would like.

As I write this note, the NASDAQ is at 1400 and change. We may crack that barrier yet today.<gg> The SOX is up 3.4 percent too.
