Grace your a romantic!)

To paraphrase a zillion people before me, no one ever thought about their home equity on their deathbed.

I don't have any children but I'm very close to my nephews and nieces. I've spent a lot of time with them that I know I never would have been able to if I'd had children of my own. They are all mostly grown up now so when we do get together in spite of everyone's busy schedule, they tell me what it is that they remember and treasure about things we did together when they were kids. Never ever do they talk about gifts I gave them or money I sent them but about stuff we did together.

Aunt Grace, remember the time we rescued that duck?....Aunt Grace, remember the time we hiked into Hemlock Gorge to swim?....Aunt Grace, remember that cake we baked for Mom's birthday? Or the time we built a dam in the stream or that time camping on Orcas Island or that trip to the beach or the time we built a campfire and Uncle John set off bottle rockets...etc.

I would never even entertain the thought of my wife working full time and dropping off our small child at a daycare center or somebody else's house. It's unimaginable to me that anyone could ever walk away from a babies tiny face just to have a more prestigious home! Don't know how people do it. I wouldn't do it for all the shares of Microsoft and GE combined.
