I amagine they will have to cover the operating costs until they get the accounts recievable on power sales. It's good to see another new plant up and running. It should compete nicely, replacing power from less efficient peaker plants and old baseload plants.

Calpine's advantage, beyond firm contract power sales is that system controllers will almost always call for the most efficient, least expensive plants first. This is good since it conserves resources. In the competitive market less
efficient plants could close or "mothball units" because they are losing money. In the future this could translate into higher power costs at peak demand periods and higher profits for CPN.
