He should stick to his model portfolios but, considering that he hasn't changed much about them for a couple of years, there wouldn't be much reason to buy the newsletter. Therein lies the rub.

Unless you've been following him in detail, how in the world would you know to avoid the non-model portfolio advice? That's cherry picking. If it's not advice worth following, then he should just knock it off or come clean about it.

He should also explain why his model portfolio $'s don't match his %'s and how someone new to his newsletter should go about using them. It is not right to say that you're 65% in cash when you're really around 80% in actual $'s yet your returns reflect the $ amounts. He should asset allocate at least once a year and then plunk the excess cash into his mutual funds.

It's sloppy and it's not the truth.
