These guys are REALLY good, and so are the bombers. This is the third or fourth time they have been in action near us, usually making their turns to drop. One of my sons told me he was at a neighbor's pond when they were fighting another fire, and he said ours was a lot easier, because theirs had a lot of trees around it, and I think the power lines aren't terribly far away. These guys are really good.

Now that I can think about it, if it had been on our side of the highway, with the wind blowing towards us, I'm not sure you could have made it out fast enuf from the closest houses, which are in the woods. Really. When we drove up to the top and saw it, it was like "OHHHH, Shit". It looked pretty big already going up the hill. There are still one or two hot spots I can see tonight, and they are still cutting brush, it looks like by the light of the full moon alone. My neighbor said he bought a disposable camera and took pictures of the choppers, so, if they turn out, I'll try to get them scanned and whatever, to post them.
These fire guys are good. They jump on this stuff so quickly. There are a lot that start along the highway, and they keep most of them pretty well contained. I heard another cat cutting a fire road, I guess, not too long ago, so they are still mopping up big time.

(I don't have a large cattle ranch; I don't have a large ranch. Only relatively, if you own city property).

Just one more close call in life.
Don't be left off the bus..
