well, do you think that their position is overall "well-meaning"? Or just to on segment of the population?

I find that most people who are "well-meaning" generally have other motives.

The most well meaning people that I know tend to want to solve their own problems and not presume to know what is best for other individuals.

My great great grandfather fought on the Union side in the American Civil War. He fought to free the slaves. He was wounded, captured, and spent two years in Andersonville Prison which destroyed his health.

None of my ancestors ever owned any slaves.

Why do I owe reparations? Should he have fought on the Confederate side?
