That sounds like a nightmare.

I have not started school because I am still applying for jobs- and our school does not start until the 28th anyway. Many teachers were pinked slipped at the end of last year, and if they have any experience at all, they can beat me out for any job because of the union rules. I understand and accept that, and mean no criticism of our local teachers union by saying that. IMO the union is more than worth it.

I think I may end up teaching middle school math :-) Which would be fun I think. I've always loved math, and it was a subject I really had to work at, so I think I could be a very compassionate teacher in that area. When I teach reading I always have to be very careful not to oversell the joys of reading to students who are having great difficulty with it.

I am also still waiting to hear about a kindergarten position. Now that would be interesting. There was a high school English teacher opening as well- and I applied, but I'm not sure the hours will work for me. I think my classes would get out 1/2 hour later than my children's classes in elementary school. Sigh
