I was a junior in college in 56

I was in junior high school in '56, the year that Elvis "made the scene" as we used to say, and I was a junior in college in '64, the year of the Beatles invasion. It was musically a fun time to be young.

It's interesting to look at the music charts for '56 and '64, which were both transition years that were dominated by new musical acts but included hits by the old guard as well. For example, '56 had No. 1 hits by Elvis (five), Kay Starr and Perry Como, and '64 had No. 1 hits by the Beatles (six), Louis Armstrong and even Lorne (Pa Cartwright) Greene. Dean Martin had a No. 1 hit in both '56 and '64.
