That's not the point I was making:

By following the MOST CONSERVATIVE standards, and recounting ALL the counties by conservative standards (no 'hanging chads', etc.)... Gore wins.

By following more liberal standards (including things like overseas ballots postmarked past the legal deadline)... Bush wins.

So the IRONY is that Gore's legal team was fighting for the wrong things.

Just goes to show that 'conventional wisdom' ain't always right :)
