Did you like listening to Tamyra's voice? Just as a voice, did you find it pleasing?

I recall your saying that about her voice and, at the time, I intended to listen to her specifically to look for that but I forgot about it. Of course, now she's gone. There was a segment on her on the local Fox affiliate last night so I listened for it but the snippets of her music were short. There's clearly nothing about her voice that I find unpleasant although I can't say that I find it particularly attractive either. I wish I had more opportunity to listen to it so I could better assess your perspective.

What I don't like about her singing is the phrasing. I don't know all that much about the technology or art of singing. I think that "phrasing" is the right word. Her singing seems choppy to me and has an artificial, plastic quality to the way she handles the lyrics. I still think she has excellent stage presence and image and a strong, well-controlled voice.

I probably wouldn't buy her music, though. I just don't find her very interesting. Kelly is the only one of the contestants whose recording I might consider buying. Then again, I'm not the demographic they care about.

in a nice, small-town girl sort of way.

She has that "small-town girl" "command" of the English language, as well. Ouch. I love listening to her sing but I sure don't want to hear her talk.
