hi...if you can buy canadian stocks, on the toronto exchange there is an index TYPE product with the symbol xgd (xgd.to on yahoo finance) which has several of the big names...please do your own homework but i believe there are about 7 different gold stocks in it, including barrick, placer, newmont, agnico and i think kinross and a couple more...again, i'm just going from memory on the contents of it...it is trading at around $ 41 canadian per share...

as far as a place to study up on gold, one site you may want to check is gold-eagle.com

i'd look for Alan Greenspan's essay on gold on that...

Lynn - there are many excellent web sites available that provide information about the gold market and gold stocks. I especially like the following:

speculative-investor.com

Financialsense is free but Speculative-investor has a subscription price. I highly recommend both.
