Ted, talk about black-n-white. It's the eco-nuts who are turning the issue into such. They support one extreme (letting forest fires do the will of "Mother Nature") while creating FUD over the other (letting "evil corporations" clear cut forests just to fatten their wallets). Responsible logging is the shade of grey I'm settling on. Luckily the U.S. has the luxury to be responsible with its logging, unlike South America or Africa where most of the deforestation is taking place anyway. Tenchusatsu
