Home Depot to expense options, sees 2-3 cent cost

ATLANTA, Aug 23 (Reuters) - Home Depot Inc. (NYSE:HD - News) said on Friday that it plans to start posting the cost of stock option grants as an expense in fiscal 2003, joining a growing list of companies expensing options that include General Electric Co. (NYSE:GE - News) and Coca-Cola Co. (NYSE:KO - News).

Home Depot, the world's largest home improvement retailer, said the cost of expensing options would cut earnings by 2 cents to 3 cents a share in fiscal 2003.
