G&K Threadmates: OT The other day I wrote to Hueyone that I am a pretty moderate guy, and that when insulted I usually try to shrug it off. Today, I'm suspending that. Eric L a little while ago posted some stuff about a Microsoft Service Pack that was so far off topic for this thread that I PM'd him as follows: Eric... I don't wish to be a control freak here, but your last post on the G&K thread was very off topic, and I hope you'll restrain in the future. He has PM'd me back as follows: Please be advised: I absolutely will NOT restrain in the future ... ...NOT when it comes to personal computing, and helping my fellows avoid a potentially time consuming trap, since all of us who converse on what I consider to be my home thread are at intermediate or above users of personal computers and that means that the majority of us use one version or another the MO suite or some components of it. This very intentionally tart message to you has nothing to do with the fact the majority of posts G&K of late are what I consider to be off topic, and for the most I do appreciate your efforts to keep discussion reasonably on topic. As Frank would say ... Prosperous investing. This is the very sort of stuff that caused Frank to depart and begin his own moderated thread. He took abuse for a whole lot longer than I will, and all of us are the losers for his decision. Still, I have stayed here because the basic notions of the thread have not changed. There's still value here, but not if we tolerate dilution of our original purpose. I'm just one of many voices here. If I'm off-base, I'm sure you'll let me know. If I'm not, then let's all of us police ourselves in our posts. Chaz
