Mid-seventies -after being unceremoniously kicked out Indochina- the US would only go to war to save the butt of the Canadians.

It didn't last longer. Came Reagan 'It is morning in America' '600-ship Navy' and the helicopter on top of the American embassy in Saigon was forgotten.

Yes, the US is a business minded country. You know they got those bombs they have to destroy since the validity is gone, find somewhere to dump then from 40.000Ft on any bogey man of the day that fits the bill: Libya or Iraq...
New contract to replenish the arsenal and the business keeps going.

Mq: my fear is that the "malevolent few" are falsely numbered by that term. I have had my brush with totalitarian
dictatorship of thought through the malevolent hand of the Catholic Church in its many incarnations as well as other
rigid forms of christianity. But alas and rejoice the Church has had its Luthers. Thanks be for that. All reformers in the mindom of Islam of which I have studied have failed. I do believe we have entered a war of worldwide proportions that will in its course put us and the Russians and the Chinese and the Israelis and the atheists and the CDMA ers on one side and the followers of the teachings of that misogynist, pedophilic, epileptic desert madman on the other. History does not follow our bidding as our friend Jay is wont to often remind us. It is a "religious" war, one of a 7th century Weltbild against the world that would welcome your photonic paradise...I suspect the day will soon come that gentlemen, and ladies of certain set of mind, will hear the call: "Choose your weapons. It has begun." Meanwhile we in the US are "led" by idiots, synchophants, ambitious people with little minds and lesser will to fight the evil of religious madness. We are very self-indulgent and have not really known hardship as a people since the Depression. Oh, yes.. I have heard too many times, my paranoia is showing.
We shall see soon enough. There will be something far worse than the WTC. Then we must think again of how long we will suffer the consequences of being "nice" trying to have our cake (and oil) and eat it too. And we shall learn how true our "friends" are, the Saudis, the Egyptians, the French, the Brits (CNN the other night said of Blair he walks a razor's edge if he supports the shrub in the attack on Iraq.
I have heard it before..."let him rave on that men may know him mad..."
good weekend to ya Mq.
