Retirement homes are a great venue for concerts. I've done many, especially when putting together a group that you want to have get some concert experience without having to be note perfect. I used to teach a recorder consort when i was teaching high school, and I took them out to several nursing homes to play. The people are so happy to have someone come in, they're almost always supportive and uncritical, but since they're an adult audience the kids do feel it's a real concert, and take it much more seriously than they do playing to a school group.

This is only for people who like reading my long posts about my kids. It's a chapter from Ammo's Life Book, which, sadly, was not completed in time for his graduation- and still isn't. CW, the first born, has 80 thousand words in his, with pictures; it was finished, bound, and delivered on graduation, with copies given to relatives.

Poor Ammo's in still in the computer. I tell him, it is a work in progress, as he is. He's not impressed, but not surprised either. He often reminds me that there are five albums of CW baby pictures in the bookcase, and one loose, bent up hospital shot of him floating around.
This is an exaggeration, but closer to the truth than I care to admit.
You know-- I am going to move this to DAR-- it's too long and silly for here.....
