For the limited purposes of our discussion, let us just say that it was not so common an understanding as suggested, and that a substantial portion of the nation believed in the indissolubility of Union, and was willing to fight for it. Lincoln was not some pied piper, if the sentiment were not there, no conflict would have ensued......

I believe Lincoln was wrong but I would concur with that sentiment.

Do you think a state has a right to secede from the Union today, if its people are for it?

Sorry to see you get beat down the last couple of days. I lean more on their side but I don't think you deserved that onslaught.
