Actually X,

We haven't seen it yet.. We just picked it up.. Probably watch it this evening. It had all the rave reviews on the jacket, laying right there by the audio books, Since it was from the library, we have no money invested.. Maybe the fact it was available, says something.. :)

The two tapes were kind of foreboding though...
I like Picasso's works, not the tyrant in him, IMO .., I have watched the film, read his biography and thought it might be like that.. In fact, yesterday afternoon, being kind of lazy, I went back to his book, and leafed through it.. Maybe the fact, that we just bought two nudes last week traveling around piqued our interest..

We will see, Have a nice weekend.

Yes X,

We did enjoy LBN, all four hours of it. Started last night, finished this morning...but before my reasons,

I will first say a word or two about foreign films in general and why I like many of them. They will examine one thing in life and analyze it in detail. Like eating, dancing, and painting in this case.. Without all the extraneous plots and subplots, without "shock stimuli" like death, violence, etc.. Like examining the roots and stems of a rose bush to see why and how, the bush produces the beautiful bloom.. They show things in their films, where we would show nothing.

Like in one of our films, they wouldn't show the elaborate preparation and consumption of the feast, as in Babette's Feast.. Only the feast being quickly eaten prior to heading off somewhere to do something else..

In LBN, the final product was not even shown, but it showed all the energy and emotion of what went into it. The ebb and flow of control, between the artist and the model.. How it starts with the artist but moves to the model. And how they both end up equal.. And it shows the passion of genius, the vulnerability and weakness of genius. Some verbal cruelty, both by men and women..And on and on.. And like the rose bush analogy, all the roots and thorns it takes to make a rose..

And where does it end up? Where it all started, but with everybody a few days older, with more experiences, maybe some a little wiser, and a little more tired.

Just like life........
