I agree, I was thinking the same thing

Was May the other month? Although this may have been the overall pattern since January, that's because the market has basically been moving down all year. I guess in more bullish times (of whatever length) the opposite might be true, no?

May and August were the exceptions.
May post expiry rally was short lived but we reached and exceeded max pain it ran another 2-3 days (if I recall correctly then major tankage). but it did exceed max pain at the end of expiry.

August exceeded and ran.
July did not exceed max pain at expiry if I recall properly.

March hit and exceeded max pain intra-week (enormous rally based on AMAT NVLS and other such BS) but closed below max pain and kept falling. Huge reversal intra-week in March. I recall cause I played for the fall to max pain and covered way way too early on my puts as we just kept right on falling.

Oddly enough the biggest fastest declines were when Max Pain was exceeded considerably sometime during expiry week.

March
May

Now what?
Will August do the same?
