Kumara, CNG was only cheaper than petrol and diesel because it didn't have any taxes included and you were excluding the capital cost of retrofitting cars with the equipment. Also, you'd need to account for the limited range and time involved in refueling. Not to mention the need to buy a more powerful engine, which costs more to buy, to overcome the loss of power. Or, if keeping the same vehicle, more time to get up hills and less ability to overtake adds to the cost.

CNG has gone the way of the Dodo because it didn't make sense.

The USA will come up with methanol-powered fuel cells to save the world! Mainly, fuel cells will be needed for cyberphones. Hmmm, this is a bit off topic, except that the technological revolution is an American foreign policy driven by intellectual property and international agreements on trade.

[Kumar, I assume you have shortened your name from the original Kumara to avoid untoward comments from Kiwi friends. I'm happy to use your full name as I don't believe in prejudice against vegetables - heck, some of my best friends are tubers; which I hasten to add is not a snide remark about fat people as I don't believe people should be fattist, racist or prejudist].
