Hoyt Wilhelm was the greatest. What a long and wonderful career he had. I guess the equivalent today is Jesse Orosco, the only active ballplayer who voted for Warren Harding.

Elroy...I remember him. A pretty fair pitcher (country pitcher..as Diz would say) in his day...look at his W-L record in 1959.

I also noticed, for the first time, that he was born in a small rural community near Albany...my niece and her family live there.

Hoyt was something else...that knuckleball was a killer. Seemed like he could pitch almost every day.
