I've already seen Monster's Ball. Going to watch a chick flick (it looks like) tonight called Hysterical Blindness on HBO. It got really good reviews but I have my suspicions. N has nobly agreed to lie down and read next to me while I watch this movie, so it will be date-like. Popcorn will be involved and possibly popsicles. I find that often his book drops lower and lower and I end up having company watching a program or movie that he starts out with no interest in. That happened with BB3. I am destroying his mind, slowly but surely, with shlock.

Edit: Monster's Ball is not as great a movie as the reviews said, imo. It has good parts and points, though. It's so upsetting and affectingly done in the beginning that I was horrified to be watching, I mean I started out stunned. Which means it was powerful in its way, especially in the set up. There's some VERY good acting in it, too. But basically, in the end, it's a facile, PC, cliche- & coincidence-ridden piece of high-level (ie very well done) Hollywood shlock. IMO, of course. It's not a "recommender," imo. It might be worth seeing for some of the performances. But... bottom line imo is that it's shlock. Not that I don't consume my share of shlock.

Edit again:
