You know Searle, somewhere in the mid-'90's a brokerage firm put out a "buy" on a certain utility. I asked a professional if the stock was likely to go up and his reply was that the brokerage firm was probably interested in selling into any further buying. So I think most brokers knew well before the peak that buys and sell issued were often conflicts of interest situations.
