Re: Tom turned down the Intel fraud story because it was a non event

I really think he was coerced, probably with a combination of ad revenue, early access to Intel sample parts, and literal or figurative stroking.

The fraud and cheating by Intel is blatant, no one even close to being impartial could fail to conclude that what was done by Intel was terribly wrong.

I'm one of the legions of people responsible for making Intel / Microsoft mainstream. 15 years ago, we had to fight some pretty tough battles to get PCs accepted in our workplaces.

I've been disappointed by Intel's behavior during the past few years, but the most recently revealed actions by Intel were despicable - there are no other words for it.

I have some friends, now at GAO, whom I haven't talked to in a while - maybe this is a good reason to say "Hi!".

herb, Re: “In April 2002 I had been on the phone to my AMD-contact in Austin, and he asked me if I would be interested in a story that would have to be handled with the highest degree of confidentiality. He also promised that I would get this information exclusively and that it would be really HOT STUFF. I told him that he never had reasons to worry before and that I would like to have a look into it.
‘”Finally, I considered the material as not conclusive enough and decided that there weren't enough grounds to accuse BAPCo of any wrongdoings.”

It's funny how AMD is caught in the very same kind of underhanded dealings that the 'Droids accuse Intel of. Talk about those in glass houses....
