I get so confused sometimes and need clarification: is this a discussion forum where objectivity and inquiry is in pursuit of the best solutions, or is it a sandbox for cops n' robbers role plays? Well, assuming you're not talking with your tongue very firmly in your cheek, my take on this issue is that we increasingly rarely get to the first mode--non food fight discussions. What I see is a good bit of chit chat, not bad, but not the point of the thread; an increasing number of some fairly low level food fights, a little worse and definitely not the point of the thread; and then some fairly serious food fights. The only thing likely to pull us out of this downward descent is some new international contretemps that throws us all into information gathering mode. Right now, there is a sense in which we all know one another too well, can type one another's responses in our head (I can certainly do that for Bill's and can get quite close with Nadine's, a little less so for others), so there is only our mutually unshared politics, philosophy, social science views, whatever to discuss. Good to type to you, Kevin. I hope the fates are treating you reasonably well.
