Banc of America Securities cuts estimates on Applied Materials and four other chip equipment firms in report 8/23/02

Analyst Mark FitzGerald expects global capital spending by computer chip makers to stall for the next year. He says recent capital spending cuts at chip foundries will hit the equipment firms, and predicts Intel will cut its 2003 capital spending to $4.0 billion, from between $5.0 and $5.3 billion this year.

Stan and Gang,
Anyone have any views on what a war against iraq will do to the markets? Will we, as investors, be caught with our pants down once again? To the question above i will add my strong belief that we will win this war relatively easily and oil supply will not be an issue. Any takers?? mike
