Come on now.... This war isn't just against Al-Qaeda.. It's against terrorism and any state that has lent support or safe haven for terrorists who have attacked the US.

Thanks for typing that sentence. I think that's where one of the more serious dividing lines on this thread exists. Not between righties and lefties, not between pomos and nomos, not between unilateralists and multilateralists, etc. Those divisions all exist, but the one we run across most frequently is this one.

So far as I'm concerned, Al Q did 9-11. And the US is more than justified in attacking it. One can argue about what that means at the outer edges of Al Q since it is, apparently, more a holding company than a small closely knit conspiracy. But it's the core.

Regional terrorists fighting local battles aren't 9-11 issues; nor are civil wars in which one side uses techniques labeled "terrorist" by the other.
