David Hansen,

It is interesting that you mention the web. I am referring to the established, corporate television and radio stations.

In matters of business and foreign policy. the American media play the tune that the powerful call for them. To take one relevent example, Joan Peters wrote a book putting forth the thesis of this thread - that Palestine was empty of people 100 years ago and that the Palestinians were simply immigrants from neighboring countries. Her book was met with a tremendous reception in this country, widely acclaimed and a best seller. In contrast, her book was clinically dissected in British reviews and revealed to be a fraudulent polemic. What is particularly noteworthy is that the primary research on her fraud was done in America. So, it took the British media to report on American research, because the American media refused.

One example of what Len is talking about is AM radio. Since the industry was deregulated a few years ago, it has become dominated by large corporations. It is no coincidence that simultaneously the airwaves have become completely monopolized by right-wing views.
