let's separate nationalist movements from Extremist movements.. I think you are wrong on this issue. Long ago, when the Russian suppression of Chechnya was big news in the West, and the Russians were the "baddies", I saw some very odd pictures. (before the Afghanistan Invasion and pre 9/11) These pictures were of hordes of Muslims coming in to Chechnya from other countries to fight the war. There was also many terrorist acts carried out on the Russian civilian population in general. This info, I stress, was available BEFORE 9-11 and certainly had me wondering. I'll see if I can find the links.
