Get real- was ‘US just trying to stop people from fighting who want to fight more than they want peace’ in Vietnam? Real Politicks is more about controls, ideologies and extending economic influence, that is in nutshell has been and shall be the ultimate objective of any global empire. Such ‘influence’ as history suggest comes with the territory, the sum total of nations economic interest defines its territory, today the sum total of US economic interest circumvent the whole globe, therefore it can be safely deducted that US has global responsibilities. With Dunkin Donuts and Tom Clancy's 'Sum of all Fears'' kinds of cultural control comes the responsibility, today Mall Road in Lahore or Normandie on Champ's Elysee's, where the latter is on show, Dunkin Donuts and Tom Clancy is a an extension of US global reach, this is relatively a small example. It is not pleasant to ponder and unacceptable to the silent collective conscience of the US but this is the hard fact. Much as the US wants to insulate itself far from the world, its innovation and productivity brings the world closer to it, it is kind of love hate relationship, the people who are left behind are left with that residual hatred, without realising that it is openness and freedom that has made your country so successful. Amen.. From Tabasco to Windows, everyone is reminded from breakfast table to office table and back on dinners the global extension of a new empire, the sun never really sets and here is not just p[pomposity or grandeur that is associated with the rising or setting sun, here it is acceptance of cultural and economic dominance even by the nay Sayers e.g. France, that is the most difficult thing to digest by the traditional empires and old masters of the world. The ambivalence on part of these old masters to accept the new realities is based on their apparent inability ot understand the tentacle of new cyber intellectual empire!! This empire is not new, we rather are use to global leadership and these kinds of empires need sacrifices. It is not anymore what the polity of those country want in my two cents worth, like a quagmire economic influences attaches you deep to very unlovable spots and unromantic spots of the world one being Afghanistan or Pakistan but such is the reality that you have to be there to handle things right. Selectivity of options that limits only to economic benefits from global supremacy was dream of many a great empires it was limitations of their resources that saw sun setting on them, it is unlimited nature and huge resources of US cyber empire that sees itself involves in so many of the global pains without stretching itself thin, this is a rude awakening for Americans but with control and importance comes responsibility, you like it or not you have certain responsibilities and those are not optional. That is my little deduction, I wish they are totally wrong and you are right. The peace of the world is the basis of today interconnected global activity. The US is at the hub of such activity the terrorists want to blow that interaction apart,. US defends its with best of its ability, that is in my opinion is the bottom line that is where the line has been drawn by Bush Jr. Global respnsiblities are not electirc on and off buttons and that is one reality post 11th Sept US will have to realise soon. This is a long haul and a long battle, not that many like it but such is the factual ground reality. Love and regards as always..Ike
