You don't have to leave a chart open once you've set it up. The data is gathered whether or not the chart is open. I open about 12-15 and reduce them to little more than postage stamp size. You can then blow them up to full screen with one click.

Actually, I read the tiny little yellow charts that post on the same line as the symbol. This works for a quick hint as to what's happening, then I enlarge my own chart for closer analysis.

You can check it out with your Datek feed to get an idea.

Just a thought re QT charts. If you’d like continuous data so as to have complete charts, then it’s QT’s backfill capability that needs to be setup.

‘Backfill’ is one of the ‘Data Sources/Proxy’ tabs. Quote.com is free -- but need to register. Prophet is faster and more reliable -- $40/month for data with backfill. There’re a couple of others. Anytime you startup QT the charts will backfill to the day’s open.
