<<Bush: A deficit is appropriate in time of recession or war.>>

Allusions to another Bush lie. It wasn't until it became clear that he would have to spend some of the SS surplus (before 9-11) that he started saying there were exemptions to his campaign rhetoric and promises.

What happened the the trillion reasons?

Bush:

"And so my budget sets aside almost a trillion dollars over 10 years for additional needs -- that is one trillion additional reasons you can feel comfortable supporting this budget.

We have increased our budget at a responsible 4 percent, we have funded our priorities, we have paid down all the available debt, we have prepared for contingencies -- and we still have money left over."

<<You are beginning to sound like an incredible coward, as are ALL the lefties who hypocritically pretend to oppose deficits.>>

I don't oppose deficits, except in economic expansions which is why Reagan was such an economic failure. Most of our debt was incurred on his watch, during an expansion.

We spend about the same servicing the debt as we do on the military (about 300 billion this year). That's insane, and the fault of Reagan's irresponsible economic policies.

And can anyone tell me how eliminating the estate tax stimulates the economy? Wouldn't that money be better spent on stimulative tax cuts?
