Bill: Do you remember in years past all the articles about Iraq -- about how Saddam was creating the model for other Arab countries to follow? I recently stumbled upon one in the National Geographic. Baghdad was compared to New York -- the open, cosmopolitan, "westernized" city of the Arab world. Saddam was the leader who would show the rest of the Arab world the benefits of being friends with the US -- with creating societies that modelled their institutions after the US. Now we can't wait to slit his throat.
