The conflict is that the direction of their protest is misplaced. It should not be on the symbol of our nation.
I don't think that's the case. The protestors are protesting the entity that is out of order, not the flag. The burning of the flag isn't an act against the flag. What it is is the strongest statement that can be made that the entity is so out of order that they are undermining the Constitution. Subtle difference.

If you re-read my post you will note that I made no comment on any of those matters.

As to your comments on treason: It is always a moral option. Certainly, treasonous attempts were made on Hitler and the Nazi State by brave and wonderful souls. Unfortunately, they failed.

Please remember that America was founded on treason.
