No, there's no law against getting out of military service by hook or by crook or by going AWOL or having "other priorities" or by claiming a bad knee or ingrown anal hair or anything. None of it is against the law. And it's not in our tradition not to require military advice be given by those who are not pacifists, certainly, yet are also not brave and patriotic when it comes to putting their own lives on the line.

But heck, I can note irony of it. The term "chickenhawks" sums up the irony succinctly.
