This needs a detailed response; political bickering within Europe and lack of common political Vatican has left Europe kind of wayward kid new on the block, still looking for its direction. Honestly my two cents worth is that what matters n Europe is UK, the Anglo-Saxon alliance has depth and variety and class moreover ability to act decisively, the ingredients that continental Europeans lack. Spain and Holland need higher interest rates due to higher demand desperately whereas Germany needs rates below 1%, now the new dilemma for the ECB is how to resolve this two tiered economic system that has different political directions, various levels of employment taxes and inflexibilities of the labour pool due to language barrier, a man from France in Spain is useless because of his inability to speak fluent Spain, similarly a German in Italy do not have the same utility. Political and currency unions are made in heavens, it is not political jugglery or wish list of political heavy weights like Mitterrand and Kohl the makes fusion of nations comes true, the political unity and unanimity of purpose along with common understanding bring about greater economic zones. Out of great economic zones great empires emerge, the jury is still out on Euro the ultimate factor of success of Euro land, if Euro succeeds in few years so would Euro land if Euro lands unite under a single political umbrella we can see a smart competition on the make, at the moment they are just on the sidelines watching intently what could have been theirs!!
