I think that Joe Six-Pack may indeed be watching his pennies now... Kerry, this story from a couple weeks ago shows that COSTCO sales were up in July... Costco July Same-Store Sales Up 5 Percent story.news.yahoo.com But these more recent stories suggest that back-to-school sales are rather slow... Wal-Mart Sales Slow, Consumers Jittery story.news.yahoo.com Target Sales Miss Plan Again Last Week story.news.yahoo.com It will be interesting to see if the volume of container shipping into the US starts to drop. IMO, there is enough stuff lying around in US attics and garages so that we could stop importing for five years and just shop at rummage sales and eBay. -Snowshoe
