My original point was that I think there are better ways to hunt for terrorists than to bomb a country in any of the ways of bombing you and Tim have mentioned.

Well, then perhaps you ought to say what you mean. You said we shouldn't have to "wholesale bomb" a country to catch terrorists, and I say that no one who has been paying attention would suggest that we have been "wholesale bombing" Afghanistan.

As you may be aware, the vast majority of what has been done has been by special forces. For us to conduct a war of this scale with almost zero civilian casualties is nothing short of miraculous, and could only be done because of the military buildups under Reagan and Bush 41. Maybe that should give you something to appreciate Republicans for (precision guided weapons, for which Republican administrations are totally responsible, have probably saved more innocent lives than all the horrible foreign policy conducted by Democrats since Vietnam).
