Dell to sell through resellers

Monday August 26, 8:25 pm ET

By FT staff

In a bid to find new markets for its personal computers amid weakening demand, Dell Computer said it would begin selling machines through computer resellers in the US. The move, which the company said would give it access to a $3bn small business market it previously did not reach, marks a departure from Dell's preferred route of selling direct to customers over the internet.

The company said profit margins on sales through resellers would be in line with those on its current sales, despite the indirect sales channel and the fact that it would be selling unbranded, "white box" products. Dell set modest initial targets for the initiative, saying that it would account for less than 1 per cent of its total sales in the first year. FT staff

OLDTRADER,

only good and bad people, not good jews and bad jews, and good blacks and bad blacks, etc... Wait, I take that back, all liberals are bad.

I'm with you. A slight pullback but then a good DELL rally after 9-11.

Cheers,
