Your More Than Welcome Dave.

As far as being self-centered,Americans don't hold the exclusive rights to that attitude.<G> Many people in many countries know little about what goes on outside their boarders, and many more could really give a damn unless it affects them personally in some way.

The Iran hostage incident and escape through our embassy was a memorable event for many Canadians, largely because this country doesn't find itself as directly involved in other countries in the M.E., and these incidents are rare.

The reason for this I think has much to do with the energy situation we and our neighbours find our selves in.Canada is a net exporter of energy, as this very good link shows :

eia.doe.gov

America, being as dependent as it is, with growing competition from countries in Asia and the like, must maintain and protect those resources, with the benefits also going to its competitors, and all too often its enemies as well.

Now I know energy is only one aspect of the big picture , but it is a very large aspect.Connecting the rest of the dots is what we do for fun on the FADG. <g>

Regards,

KC
