ork -- non-seasonally adjusted numbers are always down July from June. see for example the July 2001 report:
census.gov

the numbers actually looked OK to me. using NOT seasonally adjusted numbers, ex-transport durable goods new orders are about where they were in July 2000 if you take away the 'computers and electronic components' line item, which is still down by 50% versus July 2000.

which means that ex-technology, the bleeding has largely stopped. or, depending on your point of view, has not yet begun <g>
