An interesting observation for sure--remmember that the driving force for consolidation (as far as I am concerned) is the lack of spectrum avaialbe-the NextWave stuff is in limbo, 700 MHz is at least 2006 or beyound and the "new" spectrum is 2008 or beyound--with that said the GSM/GPRS companies--with the possible exception of VoiceStream need spectrum and they need it badly--look at Cingular--they are having to overbuild in many cities just to clear enough spectrum to add GSM/GPRS to these cities--so I look to the spectrum lean companies as the movers--there is not doubt in my mind that there will be mergers in the GSM community between now and Jan 1 when the spectrum cap is lifted I just don't know which ones will make the move first. It is a toss-up in my mind, and can be debated until it happens.
