My understanding is that America is a way of life based on the principles outlined in our Constitutional Rule of Law. When you destroy that, you have destroyed America.
You have not destroyed that when you burn a flag. In fact you ay have reinforced it because people get pissed and are even more determined to defend it.

Many flags have been burned in anger. The Republic still stands. Elections are still held. The Bill of Rights still holds sway.

How do you explain that if they were destroyed when those flags were burned?
