And if he were to do something so stupid, let the Saudi military fight him off. I am tired
of paying for sh*t wars that get us nowhere.
Ted,

And of course today much has been written about the Saudi connection to September 11, while Saddam has not been connected to 9/11. Do we consider that the invasion of Kuwait made 9/11 more likely to happen? And do we consider that another invasion of Iraq this time will increase our standing as the target of more likely Arab acts of revenge? After all, BinLaden has ranted at length against the US for being stationed in his "holy" land.

Al, like I said to Ray, I am sure that every Saudi that hates their repressive gov't hates us as well because we are allied with their leaders. And I suspect it really rankles because the image we prefer and the one we offer the world is that of this great, benevolent democracy which stands for good and fights evil; that we are, in fact, one of God's chosen.

I love this country. You never realize how much you love your country until you live in another for an extended period of time. But I learned from my grandfather when I was a kid that when you sleep with wolves, they think you are a wolf and when you sleep with pigs, they think you are a pig and when you sleep with 'ho's then you are one of those too. It follows, then, that if you sleep with a rich despot or a flagrant dictator, then, at least some people will think you must be like them in some way.

I am not naive........I know there is diplomacy of convenience and that's what this country practices. However, I am beginning to think that anything we gain from convenience, we pay double for in the end. At least, it seems that way.
