That is like saying that cost of goods should be defined as the sales price. The value of the options is not the question. The cost to the company is the question.

The situation as it stands bothers me because the options are subsidising the cost of employment. If the options didn't exist, would the company be able to retain its staff? If not, then the accounts according to present rules do not reflect the true costs of running the business.
