The only opinion that we are not tolerant of is one that advocates a dismantling or overthrowing of the government. That is refered to as treason. </>
Suppose I form a party whose platform is that democracy is idiocy, that i should be king, and that when I am elected, I will propose an amendment abolishing Congress, prohibiting courts from overruling me, and eliminating elections. But my party and that platform also says we will not use force to accomplish our ends.

Is that treason?

"What opinion are we refering to. People don't burn the flag because they think green is prettier than red, white, and blue or that it should have a dove emblem instead of stars."

Agreed. Most people would not burn the flag for this reason.

"When you conquer a nation you take down their flag and raise your own. To take down the American flag by burning it is not simply expressing your criticism of some government action or representative it is advocating an over throw of America....treason."

That is nonsense. The flag is required to be burned when it is retired for wear and tear. Is this treason?? The flag may be burned for an infinite number of reasons.

Get real, Jewels. The Supreme Court disagrees with you, Karen disagrees with you, and I disagree with you...that ought to be enough disagreement to urge you to at least consider the possibility that you may be trying to catch a fish with a bird-call.

Burning the flag expresses an opinion, and is protected under the Constitution as FREE SPEECH. You are damn lucky you are allowed free speech. If you are bound, you must obey...

In this case, where is the line over which a crime has been perpetrated that constitutes Treason.

Wherever the line is, flag burning is on the legal side--the free speech side of it. Along with the KKK marching in Skokie and other painful expressions.
