Hi Elmat

I'm just an economics professor in Troy NY. Just got to the end of my first week of teaching economics. The more hardcore econ. class is actually more fun than the environmental econ. one which is a bit more like the material I taught before in environmental studies at Boston U. Today I taught a crash course in calculus in 100 minutes. These are mostly engineering students who just need to know how to apply calculus to economics problems. Still I was surprised that less than half had done multivariate calculus.... One computer science student told me it cleared up all the things he hadn't understood in his calculus course.

Now at the end of the week I can get time to think about research issues. We are starting on an analysis to rank all environmental and resource economics programs. Hopefully it will show up our department as one of the most productive :) I've got a grad student working on it. Of all the possible projects I suggested to him that is the one he was most interested in.

So that's the latest from Troy...
