I don’t think that Barrett caused corporate spending to dry up, 911 or any of the economic conditions. I too think Intel is a good company with lots of things going for it. But for me to say that Barrett is not screwing up (and badly) and that he did not screw up massively today would just being Pollyanna denial. If that is your gig fine, but I simply feel that in this business climate Intel can not afford to waste more quarters waiting for Barrett to perform. Unfortunately you are missing the obvious. Intel has the best products, the overwhelming lions share of the market and the lowest costs. Intel's competition has fallen and they can't get up. The economy is in the toilet and you can blame Barrett all you want but that doesn't make for an economic rebound. You're simply completely out to lunch on this one. If this was a strong economy with a strong market for technology then you could question why Intel is only making a few 100s of millions, but not now. While everyone else is losing money Intel still posts respectable profits. EP
