This statement is 100% true for wars which involve only our national interests....there should be exceptions made when our homeland security is involved.

We had to go into Afghanistan. We would like to do it in such a way that our troops can withdraw in short order....but if they have to stay for the next 10 years, so be it. We simply couldnt allow Al Qaeda a base from which they could strike with impunity.

If the administration believes that Hussein would have the potential to use a nuclear weapon on an American city, then I think the time restraint goes out the window again.

The lessons of Vietnam can only go so far....we cant use them as a blanket covering every potential situation.
