I believe that the campaign funding legislation recently passed will be overturned by the Supreme Court.
Don't remember the details. What wonderful road-to-nirvana got passed now?

"Campaign finance reform" is a clever plot by the left to SCREW the right. The Right can get financing from wealthy individuals fairly easily (although the left has recently also gotten rather good at this). They don't get as much from the poor- -the poor aren't inclined and don't have it anyway. The left has a quandary- -the poor are their natural base- -BUT THEY DON'T HAVE ANY MONEY!

The solution? Get the gov't to finance it- -artificially, at taxpayer expense, level out the difference. Previously, the difference in attractiveness of philosophies to the masses could be compensated for by the fact that the Right had more money. With gov't campaign financing, that balance is destroyed- -and the left wins!

And I'm sure I've gotten myself into quite enough trouble already!

Burning the flag is a form of speech. Protected speech. Just like running issue ads during a campaign.
Yup. There is only one voice on the thread arguing the contrary- -Jewel. Everybody else believes as you and I.

And at the end of the day, the Republic will not fall because a flag was burned. It may become useless if free speech is suppressed, though.

Hi Bridge player,

Nice to see you here. This is quite possibly one of the most contentious and bombastic fora on SI, but it's filled with interesting people. I hope you enjoy yourself.

Please give my fond regards to Mrs. Player as well.
